Working with Damian is truly special, he is so passionate about what he does and the coffee he is growing. At Finca Buena Vista, Damian primarily grows Caturra and Pink Bourbon but is incredibly passionate about different cultivars and has recently been telling us about the Sidra, SLs, Gesha and Aji Bourbon that he has been planting, have already told him that we are sure to buy these as soon as we can.
This caturra is the same coffee as we received from Damian last year, which we love for its incredible bright, fruitiness with a beautiful acidity - bringing us a cup that we long for. Damian is a member of the initiative of MonKaaba, an agency driven collective of producers in San Agustin. He is also a roaster for MonKaaba and part of the QC team. In March 2026, Damian will be joining us here in Portugal for a few days to roast, taste and brew with us – we are super excited for this. If you are looking for a meticulously processed washed coffee for a bright filter or espresso, this is the one.
About the processing: Cherries are collected every two weeks and are floated before being left to ferment for 15 - 18 hours. They are then depulped and left to dry ferment for another 36 - 38 hours. The seeds are then washed of mucilage and left to drain for 6 hours in the tanks before being moved to the solar dryer, where they’re dried for 18 – 20 days.
About the Roast: Damian’s coffee is always so incredibly delicate that we roast it very fast with a lot of energy to maintain these delicate notes and emphasise the citric nature of the coffee.
