Orea has shown constant innovation, reiterating previous models to continue improving on what was already from day one perfect. The O1 in our is an accumulation of all of the perfect features of the Orea put into one, tiny yet mighty little brewer.
Five years after OREA’s first metal brewers, the O1 returns in RAW, polished stainless steel, built as a true milestone piece. Made from high grade South Korean stainless, the interior is electropolished to avoid any metallic taste, while the exterior is hand-polished to a semi-rough finish that sits between brushed and mirror. A double-wall construction keeps heat in the brewing chamber while staying comfortable to handle, delivering the smooth, balanced OREA taste profile with serious consistency. Fully uncoated, dishwasher safe, highly durable, and designed to last for generations, a forever brewer for small doses, travel, and everyday use.
What we really love about the O1 is its versatility; you can use this dripper with Wave style papers (we really love the Sibarist B3) or Flat Papers using a negotiator or even using conical papers. The open bottom allows for fast flow with minimal contact points, but with the addition of a Sibarist Booster you can change the flow and the bed dynamics.
This tiny brewer has quickly made it’s way into our hearts as our go-to dripper and is now the dripper we are using in service at our roastery location in Porto. We are sure you will love it as much as we do!
We tend to get a bit nerdy over our filter papers at von&vonnie, they are super imperitive to every brew and choosing the right paper can really result in the perfect cup. Sibarist are widely renowned as creating the best filter papers on the market, being used constantly by competitors in Brewers Cups and Aeropress Championships (Morgan our Head of Coffee used them when he placed 2nd in the Portugal National Brewers Cup and 3rd in Aeropress Championship).
We find that papers are what can make or break the repeatability of a brew, whilst ensuring the perfect filtration and facilitating highest level of extraction. Sibarist are probably best known for the FAST paper series, which give a rapid draw down time – we love the fast papers, they result in a high clarity cup with a wonderful mouthfeel. However, the newer B3 Papers developed in conjunction with Matt Winton really allow the user to achieve a high-level extraction with incredible clarity in the cup. The rigid structure of the B3 Fibres helps maintain the form of the Wave Filters exceptionally.
As coffee enthusiasts we are always trying to perfect our brews by looking at the grinders, burr sets, pouring methods, agitation methods, water temperature. We often overlook a very key component – filter material, after all this is what can control what passes through to your cup and the contact time of the coffee. We believe this is a heavily overlooked component of extraction.
We recommend the B3 for brewing cups that are high in sweetness, clarity, with a more developed profile than those of the FAST papers.
